[\/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”188522″ img_size=”full” css_animation=”flipInX”][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeInLeft”]O imponente Convento S\u00e3o Francisco, inaugurado por Frei D\u00e2maso Venker em 1941, n\u00e3o ficou imune a a\u00e7\u00e3o do tempo e, com a mudan\u00e7a da sede do Provincialado para a Vila Clementino em 2004, isso ficou mais evidente ainda na \u00faltima d\u00e9cada. Era a hora de reformar e garantir uma vida mais longa a esta casa que \u00e9 refer\u00eancia e s\u00edmbolo da Prov\u00edncia Franciscana da Imaculada Concei\u00e7\u00e3o do Brasil.<\/p>\n
As reformas est\u00e3o no fim e o Convento se tornou tamb\u00e9m uma casa de encontros e retiros para grupos menores de 40 pessoas, j\u00e1 que disponibilizar\u00e1 35 su\u00edtes nos 3\u00ba e 4\u00ba andares, al\u00e9m de dois dormit\u00f3rios coletivos para at\u00e9 10 h\u00f3spedes. A Fraternidade local ocupar\u00e1 o sexto e quinto andares com 19 su\u00edtes.<\/p>\n
Nos 4\u00ba e 3\u00ba andares ficam 35 su\u00edtes disponibilizadas para encontros, retiros e hospedagem. Todos os quartos ter\u00e3o a mesma estrutura dos quartos preparados para os frades. No terceiro andar, na parte velha, onde atualmente est\u00e3o as salas de TV e Leitura, a capela interna e a sala de Recreio Santa Clara est\u00e3o sendo disponibilizadas para encontros e retiros, assim como o segundo andar (o Largo S\u00e3o Francisco est\u00e1 num plano completamente diferente da Rua Riachuelo, onde se situam os fundos do Convento, que na verdade \u00e9 o t\u00e9rreo se a entrada foi feita pela frente da Igreja), com o refeit\u00f3rio atual. Esses andares poder\u00e3o ser acessados, al\u00e9m de um elevador antigo, por um elevador novo e moderno.<\/p>\n
Ainda no terceiro andar, na outra parte lateral, onde hoje existem capelas missas privadas (tr\u00eas altares com pinturas de Frei Geraldo Roderfeld) e \u00e9 o trajeto que leva ao coro da Capela principal, abrigar\u00e1 uma exposi\u00e7\u00e3o permanente de pres\u00e9pios e mais atr\u00e1s, onde havia a sala antiga da biblioteca, ser\u00e1 criado um Memorial a Frei Galv\u00e3o. \u201cO nosso santo brasileiro, que morou neste Convento por 60 anos, merece ser lembrado aqui\u201d, destaca o guardi\u00e3o Frei M\u00e1rio Tagliari, lembrando que o bel\u00edssimo coro, ainda com suas estalas, ficar\u00e1 aberto para visita\u00e7\u00e3o e poder\u00e1 abrigar exposi\u00e7\u00f5es tamb\u00e9m.<\/p>\n
No fundo do claustro, funcionam os escrit\u00f3rios do Pr\u00f3-voca\u00e7\u00f5es e Miss\u00f5es Franciscanas. \u201cA atual sacristia est\u00e1 se tornando uma sala penitencial. Com isso, os confession\u00e1rios que foram constru\u00eddos provisoriamente no corredor deixar\u00e3o de existir, tornando o espa\u00e7o mais limpo. A nova sacristia ficar\u00e1 atr\u00e1s da igreja e ocupar\u00e1 tamb\u00e9m a sala que hoje \u00e9 usada pela Pia Uni\u00e3o de Santo Ant\u00f4nio. \u201cJ\u00e1 inauguramos no claustro, ao lado da igreja, os novos banheiros que foram totalmente custeados por um benfeitor do Convento\u201d, explica Frei M\u00e1rio.<\/p>\n
Segundo o guardi\u00e3o, todos esses espa\u00e7os est\u00e3o sendo revitalizados.<\/p>\n
O Convento foi inaugurado, com o nome de \u201cS\u00e3o Francisco e S\u00e3o Domingos\u201d, no dia 17 de setembro de 1647, festa das Chagas de S\u00e3o Francisco. [\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column][\/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1\/2″][vc_column_text css_animation=”fadeInLeft”]In January 25, 1554, S\u00e3o Paulo city was founded during the celebration of the first Mass, in a wood house \u2013 \u201cpau-a-pique\u201d, covered with straw, where the \u201cP\u00e1tio do Col\u00e9gio\u201d is located nowadays. A fight between settlers and religious men resulted in the Jesuits expulsion in 1640. In the same year, a group of seven Franciscans arrived to S\u00e3o Paulo, where they settled in a house in front of the \u201cErmida de Santo Ant\u00f4nio\u201d, currently \u201cPra\u00e7a do Patriarca\u201d.<\/p>\n
Two years later, with the help from the local population and authorities, in december 24, the friars eamed some land given by the \u201cC\u00e2mara da Vila de S\u00e3o Paulo\u201d (The City Council). In september 17, 1647, the Monastery of S\u00e3o Francisco and S\u00e3o Domingos, which was its first name, was founded during the celebrations of the \u201cChagas de S\u00e3o Francisco\u201d.<\/p>\n
The Monastery was the largest one constructed in S\u00e3o Paulo until that time. It used to take up all the area of the \u201cFaculdade de Direito\u201d (Law College). The Monastery land had three pure water springs, but it used to be injured by the \u201cAnhangaba\u00fa\u201d river floods.<\/p>\n
Until the middle of the XVII century, the frontispieces of the provincial churches werw built in jesuistic style with a low tower. Since then, the baroque style was adopted. In 1884, the church frontispiece was modified. Inside the church there is a vault with allegories from the Franciscan history, painted by Frann Bathe (1951), and there\u00b4s also a bell from the XVIII century.<\/p>\n
In 1845, The \u201cIrmandade de S\u00e3o Benedito\u201d (St. Benedict\u00b4s Brotherhood), which stood for an endeavour of those religious men to incentivate the Christian spirit among the african-brazilian slaves, tried to appeal to the Empire Government to take up the monastery. They even took out the image of St. Francis from the church and replaced it with an image of St. Benedict.<\/p>\n
A fire burned the main chapel in 1880. Only the walls and the St. Francis image, which was considered the most beautiful of all old monasteries, were saved. The main altar was bought in Munich, Germany and given by \u201cIrmandade Acad\u00eamica de S\u00e3o Francisco\u201d (St. Francis Academic Brotherhood) which consists os professors and students.<\/p>\n
The Church and the old Monastery, where the Law College is currently settled, joined in only one building with an imposing cloister with its five arches on pillars. Its foundations were made ikn \u201ctaipa\u201d (mud material), reaching 3 meters below the ground and were 2 meters thick in some points.<\/p>\n
St. Francis Monastery present structure, in the bottom of the old church, was built in 1941 by the guardian Friar Damaso Venker. Some improvements were made in the church that time.
